10 now arrested in shooting of ex-Rwandan general Kayumba Nyamwasa

By the Washington Post
JOHANNESBURG -- Police say they have now arrested 10 men in the shooting of a former Rwandan general exiled in South Africa.
Authorities initially had announced only five arrests after Gen. Kayumba Nyamwasa was injured in a June shooting near his home.
The case has strained relations between South Africa and Rwanda amid accusations that Nyamwasa was the target of an assassination attempt orchestrated by his government. Rwanda denies the allegations.
The five additional arrests, made in late June and early July, emerged during court proceedings Wednesday.
Police spokesman Govindsamy Mariemuthoo said the arrests were made quietly, with no public announcement.
The attack on Nyamwasa came as human rights groups said Rwanda's government was smashing dissent.
