A coalition of organizations in Spain with the platform “Stop Impunity in Rwanda” is sending two of their delegates to New York this week to discuss violence and impunity in the Great Lakes Region (Congo/Rwanda) and the the leaked ROUGH DRAFT: Report of the Mapping Exercise documenting the most serious violations of human rights and international humanitarian law committed within the territory of the Democratic Republic of the Congo between March 1993 and June 2003. The report indicates that Rwanda may have committed genocide in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) in 1996, as well as military crimes against humanity against refugees.
The two delegates include Juan Carrero Saralegui, promoter of International Forum for the Truth and Justice in the Great Lakes Region. He is the soul of the campaign and has been working for years against the impunity in the Great Lakes Region. He was proposed as a candidate for the 2000 Nobel Prize for Peace. He has written books, articles, and he did a hunger strike in Brussels towards the involvement of the EU in the DR Congo to stop the atrocities. The second member of the delegation is the Spanish Senator Pere Sampol i Mas, PSM-EN (GPMX), that supports fully this Campaign and has been very active in demanding official answers to the Spanish government on this issue.
