Rusesabagina Press Release On Prof.Erlinder's Release

Dear Friends,

I am pleased to report that the work of human rights advocates around the globe, including Hotel Rwanda Rusesabagina Foundation staff and supporters, has helped win the release of American law professor Peter Erlinder.

Erlinder, who was in ill health, was illegitimately jailed by the Rwandan government for the "thought crime" of disagreeing with their official view of the 1994 genocide. The Erlinder case generated massive news coverage worldwide and exposed the Rwandan government's total lack of respect for freedom of speech.

Requests for Professor Erlinder's release from the U.S. State Department, leading human rights organizations, and activists like you helped win his release. We showed that we understand the importance of human rights in Rwanda - and that we are willing to stand up for those rights.

Thank you to those who took the time to learn about the Erlinder case and support his freedom with calls, letters, e-mails and faxes. I deeply appreciate your efforts and look forward to working with you in the future.

Sincerely,

Paul Rusesabagina
President
