The Actions of USA several Key Allies in Africa are at best disturbing.

Although it has not been widely reported in the Mainstream Media in the United States the Actions of several Key Allies in Africa are at best disturbing.

First of all is Rwanda again. In previous posts I have been commenting on the Actions by President Kagame to silence the Democratic Greens from actually organizing to field a Candidate for the Upcoming Presidential Elections this summer. Then the Union of Democratic Forces was targeted because their Leader actually said that Moderate Hutus were also killed during the Genocide of 1994. The FDU was not registered either.

Now comes word that the leader of the only Opposition Party that was allowed to Organize to field a Candidate for President has had its founder removed and replaced by a novice on the Political Scene. The Leader Bernard Ntaganda was accused by dissidents in his own Party of having a role in the recent Grenade attacks in Kigali. Mr. Ntaganda has said that State Security Forces have been trying to remove him from the Party leadership since the party was founded.

These Actions along with the dubious role that the Country currently has in the Democratic Republic of the Congo debacle should result in Congress holding hearings about the Freedom of the Electoral Process in Rwanda and the status of relations with Rwanda. So Message to Congress: When are you going to hold hearings on Kagame and how he views Democracy?

Another Country that needs more US Scrutiny is Ethiopia. This ally often conducts US Foreign Policy Goals by Proxy. Whether its keeping Eritrea in check with Military Action or sending Troops or Arms into neighboring Somalia in an effort to prop up the Transitional National Government Meles Zenawi has been willing to do the bidding of whichever party is in control in Washington.

So as the Country prepares for its Elections in May the Prime Minister of Ethiopia has announced that He will Jam the Voice of America as it attempts to broadcast into Ethiopia. Sadly this is not the first time He has taken this action. Listeners to the Amharic service of VOA have encountered difficulties since Feb. 22nd of this year. The Prime Minister actually compared the VOA service to the Hate Spewing Radio Mille Collines that was on the Air in Rwanda before the Genocide. A spokesman for VOA dismissed the charges.

President Museveni of Uganda may feel that His grip on power may be slipping away. Although the LRA Disarmament Bill has passed the US Senate and is now heading to the House of Representatives for a vote that is the only glimmer of hope for His Campaign.

Just the other night the Burial Grounds for the Kingdom of Buganda were destroyed by fire. This is only highlighting the tensions between the Central Government in Kampala and the Buganda Government. The Intelligence Head has actually threatened the life of an Opposition Candidate for President and has His own son in charge of his security.
